Real Life Gulliver’s Travels (20 Photos)
I really don’t know how I didn’t see these amazing pics earlier! Man, this is awesome! I just know that I’ve made a whole gallery from Slinkachy and I’ve tried to create something like this – but, hell no – he is the master for those tiny guys. The ‘Little People Project’ started in 2006. It involves the remodeling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which artist then place and leave on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project.
The street-based side of his work plays with the notion of surprise and artist aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes he set up, more evident through the photography, and the titles given to these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humor.
Artist want people to be able to empathize with the tiny people in his works. He uses little characters, that are in fact miniature figures used for professional architecture and train projects, fabricated by Preiser, and altered and adapted by the artist. It is quite impressive the thought and planning to each scene… i.e. the artist has to put this on the street without anyone seeing him.
